Cantina Sociale Valpolicella was born on 23 August 1933, with headquarters in Villa Mosconi, in Arbizzano di Negrar. «This is not an Amaro, but an Amarone!». From this exclamation pronounced in 1936 by the President of the Cellar, Gaetano Dall'Ora, after tasting a Recioto wine accidentally left to ferment for a long time, the name of the current symbolic wine of Valpolicella was born. In 1957, the winery was refounded with 80 members, in Negrar, in its current headquarters. In 1989 Cantina Valpolicella Negrar began a complex Quality Project, DOMINI VENETI, through the identification of some particularly suitable areas of Valpolicella, from which, with intense work alongside the winemakers, grapes of extraordinary quality are obtained. The Recioto Vigneti di Moron, 2001 vintage, is the first Recioto from a cooperative winery to win the coveted 3 Bicchieri award from the Gambero Rosso Italian Wine Guide. In 2013, Tre Bicchieri again. This time the award is given to Amarone Villa 2005, from the ESPRESSIONI Collection, the new and significant territorial valorization project conceived by Cantina Valpolicella Negrar.
