San Salvatore 1988

The San Salvatore winery has a long history, in fact it was born in the Cilento Natural Park immediately after the war. The vineyards and the cellar are located in the same area where the Ancient Greeks began the colonization of Magna Graecia and consequently brought the Aglianico, Fiano and Greco vines; today, in the same places, the company's vines grow. The philosophy of San Salvatore, whose patron is Peppino Pagano, a successful entrepreneur in the tourism-hotel sector, is to produce wines respecting nature and traditions, also including the history and flavors of the native land in the products; in fact, organic agriculture is never intensive, the vineyards are not stressed and we try to respect the ecological identity and natural rhythms. The cellar, then, is located about 700 meters from the vineyard and within sight of the Temples; it is a modern structure, equipped with a 96Kw photovoltaic system which allows the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to be reduced to a minimum. Today, San Salvatore is an agricultural company of 97 hectares, of which 21.5 are occupied by vineyards and the rest divided between orchards, olive groves and woods, and 450 buffaloes exported all over the world, from Australia to the United States. The intention of Peppino Pagano, who started it all by planting cuttings in Stio, a small municipality in the hinterland which proved to be an ideal place for viticulture and then continuing to raise vines in the municipality of Capaccio-Paestum, is to grow further , also being able to count on the support of Riccardo Cotarella and the reliable and competent Piedmontese agronomist Alessandro Leoni. On the other hand, the San Salvatore company has acquired a significant role, not only in Cilento but also in the region, in a very short time, so it is easy to expect great things from it.
