For fifty years the Monsanto Castle has become the home of the Bianchi family's prized Chianti. Aldo Bianchi became owner of the castle in 1961 and from the first moment he was fascinated by the picturesque panorama of the place, immersed in the green hills of the Val d'Elsa. The first Chianti Classico cru was born in 1962, the date on which the first vinification took place within the Denomination. As the years passed, the heir Fabrizio made increasingly revolutionary decisions, choosing to dedicate himself entirely to Sangiovese: to date, of the 72 hectares of vineyards owned by the family, 56 are of this precious vine. Respect for nature, for its times and spaces, has always been fundamental, as demonstrated by the refusal of any chemical treatment . In 1982 Fabrizio started the construction of a gallery, using the medieval technique of wooden ribs to give shape to a very long and evocative lowered Etruscan arch: under these vaults the wines rest, maturing or aging, in a cellar with a history of bottles among the most important in Italy.

In light of the techniques taught by her father and the experience handed down by the Monsanto workers, Laura, Fabrizo's daughter, inherited the business in 1996 and passed on to her wines what she had learned: the identity, recognisability and pleasantness of her wines…emotions and passions contained in these precious bottles.
