La Montina

The vineyards of the historic La Montina winery extend over an area of approximately 72 hectares, spread across 7 municipalities within the Franciacorta DOCG. An extraordinary territory, between Lake Iseo and the morainic hills before the plain: here, more precisely in Monticelli Brusati, the La Montina winery is located. The origins of this cellar are very ancient and its construction is due to Benedetto Montini, ancestor of Pope Paul VI, who, in 1620, built the structure which was then renovated, thanks to the commitment of the Bozza brothers, the current owners. The vineyards are almost all on the hills and the subsoil is characterized by a strong presence of limestone, silt and clay. In the vineyard the yield is low, around 100 quintals per hectare, and great attention is paid to each individual vineyard; this approach has led, since 1992, to a particular zoning study, i.e. an analysis capable of precisely defining the climatic, geographical and geological characteristics of each area, precisely making the most of the vine-environment combination. The French call them Cru. The classic Champagne grapes, namely Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, are grown between the rows, paying great attention to respecting the surrounding nature and the vineyards, with the aim of obtaining high quality grapes. The company produces 7 labels, all Classic Method obviously, as required by the regulations, giving products of undoubted quality, which represent the testimony of hard work, sacrifices, projects and great successes. Among the various labels that deserve a mention, Rosé Extra Brut is undoubtedly a wine of great refinement and elegance.
