The most beautiful love stories are born like this, from a gift... In fact, in 1980, Andrea Ferraioli gave, as a wedding gift to his bride, Marisa Cuomo, a steep and rugged patch of land with old vineyards on the Amalfi Coast. It is a legacy from the father which, at the time, could also have had a negligible value and without any future, as many thought: no one could have imagined that, instead, with great Love, Work and Passion, this small gesture would have been transformed, over the years, into one of the most popular wineries in Italy and the world, especially for the production of white wines. The Marisa Cuomo winery today evokes, for enthusiasts, wines of exceptional workmanship and great sensoriality, recognized by critics and the market on an international level. We are in Furore, a small jewel perched on the Amalfi Coast and its vineyards overlook the splendid Gulf of Salerno. There are around ten hectares of vineyards in total, of extreme viticulture, because here the slopes are dizzying and the average altitude is also very high, we are around five hundred meters above sea level. The vineyards climb the steep slopes overlooking the blue Tyrrhenian Sea. The vines, supported by chestnut poles, according to the traditional pergola training system, are called "wall", that is, they protrude horizontally from the dry stone walls that Andrea and Marisa themselves have, over the years, laboriously built, carrying out heroic work of terracing. A real challenge against the laws of physics. The salient feature of these vineyards is represented by the fact that the vines are all ungrafted and with a very advanced average age: around 80 years. This means a very limited production, but of extreme quality. Challenge within the challenge, the cultivated vines are native and, until recently, unknown to most: Fenile, Piedirosso, Ginestra, Pepella, Ripolo, Sciascinoso, Tintore and Tronto: with these very particular grapes, Marisa and Andrea manage to give a deep, sincere and unmistakable imprint on all their productions. Red, rosé and white wines are made with the DOC “Furore”, “Ravello” and “Costa d'Amalfi”; wines, those of Marisa Cuomo, best represented by the “Fiorduva” label, a wine icon highly appreciated in Italy and abroad.
