The Carletti family had their first contacts with the world of viticulture in 1961 when Dino purchased 22 hectares of land in the municipality of Montepulciano, where he planted the first specialized vineyards in the area.
At the end of 1980, in a delicate moment due to the economic crisis and the decline in consumption, his son Federico, already an agronomist, decided to accept the challenge and take over the management of the company, establishing a new and more modern production philosophy, according to a personal vision of agriculture. From the beginning, his passion for the art of "making wine" pushed him to deal with the most advanced techniques in use in international viticulture and oenology, creating an increasingly close and profitable dialogue with sector specialists and with the fellow producers of Chianti Classico.

In over thirty years of viticultural and oenological management of the company, never has a decision been made solely with the comfort of market analysis, but all the choices have been inspired by the great passion for agriculture and the true emotion of imagining and theorizing a vineyard, a grape, a wine and then finally seeing them realized after having followed them step by step throughout their life.
In recent years, research has focused on the environmental sustainability of viticulture, with the reduction in the use of chemical products, with studies and tests of organic farming and biodynamic agriculture. A natural oenology is increasingly being applied in the cellar in which the technology is respectful of the original and classic characteristics of the wines.

The courage and creativity of Federico Carletti have allowed Poliziano to become one of the most appreciated names in Tuscany today, with bottles of absolute value rewarded by numerous awards. Asinone is the most representative name of the entire production, but it is part of a valuable range of labels that elevate the Montepulciano area even further to the cradle of wine, a cradle that owes much to the name Poliziano.
