Description
Old John Marsala DOC Riserva Superiore Ambra Semisecco is a prestigious fortified wine from one of the oldest and most renowned Sicilian wineries: Cantine Pellegrino 1880 . It comes from a blend of equal parts of typical local grapes, such as Grillo, Inzolia and Catarratto, grown in the hinterland of Marsala and in the locality of Mazara del Vallo. The vines are found on clayey soils, located at a difference in height of just over 100 meters above sea level. They also enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with sunny and windy summers. The grapes thus reach perfect ripeness within the second ten days of September, when the harvesting operations are carried out. The grapes continue with the fermentation phase, followed by fortifications with neutral alcohol and cooked must. At this point the wine undergoes a double refinement period which takes place first in large oak barrels for 4 years and then another 6 months in barrique. Old John Marsala DOC Riserva Superiore Ambra Semisecco is so ready to be drunk, rich, complex, broad, exciting.
