Veuve Clicquot's Champagne Brut La Grande Dame inherits the rare elegance of the best Chardonnay (47%) and Pinot Noir (53%) grapes chosen by the chef de cave, harvested and blended from the vineyards owned by the 8 Grand Cru villages around Reims. The cool climate of the region, so northern, allows the grapes that ripen at these latitudes to maintain the ideal acidity for the sparkling wine of the Champenoise method. 7 years (!) of aging in the chalk cellars allow the brut to fully express its maturity, which can continue for a long time. Even this Grande Dame respects the "figure" of the collection, whose cuvées are produced only in particularly promising years, following harvests that are not abundant, but which guarantee the personality and promises of this label dedicated to Barbe Nicole Ponsardin, widow of the founder of the Maison Veuve Clicquot, the first entrepreneur in the world of champagne and undisputed creator of rèmuage, a method thanks to which the wine, perfectly aged on the lees, is clear, limpid and free from any impurities. Veuve Clicquot's Champagne Brut La Grande Dame is elegant and fresh, with a soft but enveloping structure. The hints of young fruit, bread and vanilla are the prelude to a taste of great elegance and balance, embellished by a vibrant freshness and a soft and enveloping structure, a great vintage. "La Grande Dame" is certainly unique and it is no coincidence that in the last 50 years only 18 editions have been produced.
