    Italian wines 

    The cultivation of vines and the production of wine arrive in Italy with the invasion of the Greeks, around the year 1000 BC. A little later a name appears, Enotria, or land of wine; it is a vast area that includes Calabria, Sicily, part of Campania, Basilicata and Puglia and which immediately appears to be decidedly suited to the production of wine. From that moment, the nectar of Bacchus enters the DNA of the Italian people who, over the centuries cultivate, develop, refine agricultural and oenological traditions and techniques for the production of wine which enters, in fact and in law, in the culture of our country . Some numbers: to date, we have the richest ampelographic heritage in the world: about 600 native vines, we have several tens of thousands of producers, bottlers, wine merchants; more than 500 Denominations (IGT, DOC, DOCG), more than 40 million liters produced per year and above all a propensity to increase the production of quality wine. We cannot fail to mention the great Piedmontese reds, Barolo and Barbaresco; the Brunello di Montalcino and the SuperTuscans in Tuscany, the great Amarone di Valpolicella, in Veneto; Sagrantino di Montefalco in Umbria; Aglianico del Vulture in Basilicata, Nerello Mascalese in Sicily; the great whites from Campania (Greco, Fiano and Falanghina) and many others.
