    South Tyrolean wines

Alto Adige is a very small territory, from a viticultural point of view, but it has a great variety of situations, from a geological and climatic point of view. The South Tyrolean vineyards unfold along the slopes that run alongside the Isarco and the Adige and about fifteen different vines thrive between 200 and 1,000 meters above sea level. The 3 native grape varieties of South Tyrol, namely Schiava, Lagrein and Gewürztraminer are the ambassadors of South Tyrolean wine in the world, while the others (Pinot bianco, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Sylvaner, Kerner, Veltliner, Moscato Giallo, Müller Thurgau, Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet) have excellent yields (depending on the area, of course) so as to constantly appear at the top of national rankings and beyond. A peculiarity of the territory, in terms of wine, are the cooperative cellars which, first in Italy, have aimed at quality and excellence, reaching unimaginable goals for a cooperative reality: S. Michael Eppan, Kaltern, St. Pauls, Tramin, and many others, with their top wines they constantly obtain awards and recognitions, even at an international level. We can certainly define Alto Adige as a certainty in the Italian wine scene.
